It is with regret that we announce that Singing Futures will not be meeting again. The impact of Covid-19 and the consequent lockdown meant that we were unable to meet for a considerable time. Over that period there have been many changes for many people. With regards to Singing Futures, some of the young people have moved away and they have all grown up a lot. We consulted with our members and, although all responses were very positive, we now do not have enough members to sustain Singing Futures in the long term. It is very sad but not surprising due to the length of time since we last met.
The committee would like to express their thanks to all the young people who have taken an active role in Singing Futures. Their commitment, friendliness, laughter and willingness to perform in public has been a joy. All the young people have been excellent examples of how to work successfully in a family atmosphere, where everybody’s ideas are considered and valued. We wish them all good health and happiness for the future.
Of course, none of this could have happened without Carol Secret, our musical director. Carol has given so much to successfully engage young people in activities that have helped them grow in confidence and to express themselves through singing and drama. We offer our sincere thanks for her positivity, patience and inspiration.
Our thanks also go to Cheryl Scarff our accompanist. She quietly worked in the background without ever seeking the limelight for herself. Her contribution has been greatly valued.
